BORN IN BOGLIASCO

Bogliasco, Italy
October 2017

By Ross Belfer

Down in Bogliasco, time stands just as still as you'd want it to be. Five days of silencio in this sleepy, Ligurian town nestled between Genova and Portfonio (close enough to Cinque Terre but far removed from the tourist-heavy madness) forces you to look up and smell the roses. It was October 2017 -- and an invitation to attend a friend's wedding was reason enough to seek respite for a few days before, and after, an elegant eloping on the Med.

With good fortune on my side, my friend Fabiana granted me use of her family's humble abode, comfortable enough for one. In dire need of a solo journey, the internet-less apartment reminded me of times past, when analogue ruled the rule and social interactions were made in person and not through a screen.

Saunters to hidden, cliff-winding beaches. Fresh pastries . Moments of self-reflection, perspective-gaining flashes while inhaling the salted-air. These words describe my time in Boglasico, as do the 35mm photos, below.
