I met Bruce Gold, 73 this year, a week before Covid-19 lockdown in South Africa. When it started, surfing was banned all around the country and for the first time no surfing was allowed in J-Bay. Bruce, together with all the surfers in town, had to stay at home while the best waves in the last months arrived at the bay. 3 years ago I read in a magazine about Bruce for the first time and would like to share the last pictures of Bruce surfing in J-Bay as a closure to that article and as a memory of the only time that Bruce was out of the water for so long.
