The Good Vibes of Athens

Athens — February 2022

By Ross Belfer

What struck me the most about the Greek capital wasn’t its tourist sites, trendy neighborhoods or delectable street food, but its people. The many names of neighborhoods I cannot remember beyond Syri, Kohlinaki or Omonia were surpassed by the deep affection rendered by strangers or friends of friends I met for the first time. The impressions of Greek hospitality are warm and genuine; with no sub-altering motive to gain anything other than friendship and interesting conversation. Thanks to Fotis, Ilias, Natassa, Eva and Sofia for taking small moments to meet or greet me in your wonderful city. Our paths will cross again soon.

PS For those interested, my shortlist of hotspots trotted to during a three-day stay in the city include:

Anana Coffee
Hyper Hypo
Brown Acropol
Dave RED
