PHUKET NO STRESS, NO WORRIESss

Phuket, Thailand
April 2023

Waking up in Phuket is like a mirage of good fortune. I had visited the southern slice of Thailand during a work trip years prior, but was drawn return for a leisurely visit. The beautiful of Phuket is tangible: epic beaches, sultry sunshine, tropical fruits (mango, coconut, pineapple, anyone?) and most importantly, warm people. Phuket gives way to a lazy, care-free lifestyle that us Westerns could never replicate. Its power forces you into a daze of delight, anchored around the Andaman Sea, locavore restaurants and all of the bells-and-whistles one could ask for in a beachside holiday. Escaping reality, my family and I packed up our bags for a 10-day jaunt directly to Phuket from Tel Aviv. With no layovers and just a short drive to Surin beach, the access and ease in which we traveled amplified the experience to another level. Forget ferry rides and roadtrips to trot through many destinations. There is something special about checking in, dropping your bags and moving only from bed to breakfast to beach as the cycle of one’s day. With the constant buzz and pressure of daily life, Phuket paves the road for a rest and recharge that very few destinations could provide. Until next time, these images offer a visual representation of a feeling evoked the southern strip of Thailand.
